Fallon Reid, Senior Manager at Deloitte

Fallon Reid is a senior manager in Valuation and dispute services at Deloitte. She works with a wide range of clients in economic damages quantification and litigation advisory. Her experience covers a broad range of industries including financial services, life sciences and public sector. With her foundation in finance and accounting, Fallon advises business owners on related issues such as contract matters and disputes.

Fallon holds a Bachelors of Administrative and Commercial Studies and a Diploma in Accounting from the University of Western Ontario. Fallon is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). She also graduated from the Diploma of Investigative and Forensic Accounting Program at the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management.

Kerry Colborne, Founder of Force 10 Capital Management Inc.

Kerry Colborne
is a seasoned business executive with international experience gained through a long career in the finance, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Specific roles include Managing Director (CEO) of New Zealand and Global Marketing Director (in both Lyon, France and Duluth, Georgia) for Merial, a leading company in the animal health sector. More recently, she provided financing to small and medium sized businesses in the Oakville and Burlington area as a Senior Manager of Loans with the Business Development Bank of Canada. Finally, she has returned to her entrepreneurial roots by working full time for her own company, Force 10 Capital Management Inc., which she established in 2007. Kerry is also Chair of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, she is an avid sailor, soccer player and art collector.

Frances Zomer, Founder of Numeric Answers

Frances Zomer is a CPA, CA and founder of Numeric Answers Limited. She is a successful entrepreneur who has extensive experience in business start-ups, business consulting, business management and management accounting. Frances has worked closely with small to mid-sized companies and not-for-profit organizations in Toronto through her previous practices with Deloitte & Touche and through Harris & Olah, Chartered Accountants. Frances co-founded Harris & Olah in 1996 where she specialized in preparing financial statements and providing corporate tax advice to small to mid-sized companies. During this period Frances led the implementation teams for the accounting systems at both Toronto General Hospital and the Osteoporosis Society of Canada. Frances has served as a financial consultant for the Osteoporosis Society of Canada and is a past member of the board of directors of VHA Home Health Care, one of Toronto's largest non-profit home care providers. Frances currently Chairs a committee for the Santa Claus Parade and is a member of both the Issuer Committee and 3rd Party Committee of the Equity Crowdfunding Alliance Canada.

Nancy Fowler, Co-Founder of The Licensing Shop, Inc.

Nancy Fowler
is co-founder of The Licensing Shop, Inc. Previously she was the President of Worldwide Consumer Products for DIC Entertainment overseeing the successful relaunch of the Strawberry Shortcake franchise and McDonald's licensing programs. Prior to that, she held the position of Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Viacom Consumer Products (Paramount Pictures Corp.) based in Los Angeles and managed their global licensing programs such as Star Trek and South Park. Previous roles include General Manager of Viacom Consumer Products Canada and executive management positions at Alliance Atlantis and Sega of Canada.

is President of Roy Foss Motors Ltd, a privately held family business established in 1962 which includes several automotive retails stores, a land holding company, and Canada's largest independently owned fleet leasing company. She is a member of the Cadillac National Advisory Board for General Motors of Canada and is the first Canadian Dealer to serve on General Motors (US) Women's Dealer Advisory Council (WDAC) representing both General Motors of Canada and Roy Foss Motors LTD. Karen was awarded Dealer of Distinction from WDAC.

Wendy is a Entrepreneur, Founder, Mentor and Coach working with innovative people, companies, and customers to continually validate markets and drive sustainable growth. She is currently working on making information and learning a simple proposition. Her passion is to promote creative thinking in an environment that is always on, test and learn, and ROI based. Rajini Nagendran, Vice President, Commercial Banking, Bank of Montreal

Rajini is Vice President, Commercial Banking, with Bank of Montreal and manages a team of Commercial Account Managers covering the Independent Business (IB) and Small Medium Enterprise (SME) markets in downtown Toronto. Since joining BMO in 2001, Rajini has held several leadership roles, both in head office and front line functions. She joined as a Manager in the Financial Strategy group and was appointed Director, Diversified Industries with BMO's Corporate Finance Division in 2006, and as Head of Pricing for Personal Lending, Investment and Deposit products in 2009. In 2011, she took on the role of Head of Commercial Deposits and provided leadership in executing a range of strategic initiatives that generated in excess of $10 million in annualized revenue. Prior to joining BMO, Rajini held positions with Deloitte and the Clorox Company of Canada.

    Caroline is a partner with the firm and has been involved in leading business litigation and estate litigation cases. Focusing on commercial and corporate litigation and estates, trusts and capacity litigation, Caroline represents clients ranging from large corporations and institutions to small business owners and professionals. Caroline has appeared as counsel before all levels of courts in Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada. 

    Caroline has been named in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for the practice area of litigation–corporate commercial. She was selected as a Litigation Lawyer to Watch in Lexpert's 2014 US/Canada Cross-border Litigation Guide. Caroline was also named one of Canada's 2013 Lexpert® Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40.

    As the Co-Chair of the International Private Client Committee, American Bar Association - Section of International Law, National Representative (Canada) for the International Association for Young Lawyers and a member of the OBA Council and Chair of the current OBA Executive, Estates and Trusts Section, Caroline is actively involved in the legal community. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Western Law School and is a regular speaker on a variety of legal topics. 

    In 2017 Caroline was named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). The ABF is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose careers have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in their communities and legal profession.     Faren has significant expertise helping clients navigate through a broad range of complex disputes. She works with clients from across the construction pyramid including owners, contractors, consultants, subcontractors and trades. She has experience with project strategy, as well as, lien, contract, procurement, professional negligence, and delay claims. Faren has appeared before all levels of the Ontario Superior Court and Federal Court. 

    Faren uses a practical approach when handling disputes and is able to  identify issues  and work with her clients to provide innovative solutions. She is dedicated to guiding her clients through the whole process from contract formation, project strategy, and if necessary litigation. It is this approach that has led to Faren successfully solving and resolving a myriad of concerns and disputes on behalf of her clients. 

    Faren is committed to the construction industry and is a former director of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction. She has also taught the Law and Construction Contracts course at George Brown College, School of Construction Management and Trades, and School of Architectural Studies.

    Faren is currently also a director of Brenyon Way Charitable Foundation and Ridgeford Charitable Foundation, not for profit organizations that provide quality affordable housing to residents of the City of Toronto.

    Faren is the Chair of WeirFoulds Women, a program focused on promoting a positive, successful and diverse working environment and a member of the Associates and Students Committee at WeirFoulds.

    Lori heads the firm's Estates, Trusts and Charities practice. She has been named by Best Lawyers® as one of the best lawyers in Canada in her practice area, and repeatedly recognized as a Leading Practitioner in Estate & Personal Tax Planning in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory.

    Lori assists the firm's clients in managing and transferring their assets through the use of business succession plans, trusts and wills. She assists in the establishing of charities and non-profit organizations. Her practice also includes all areas of trusts, wills and estate administration, including work under the Substitute Decisions Act.

    Lori is the Ontario Editor of the Estate & Trust Reports (Carswell). Lori also authors an electronic newsletter through Carswell publications called, WeirFoulds Estates & Trusts.     Full Biography

    Linda Malicki is a highly experienced associate whose practice encompasses a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.

    Her clients include engineering, technology, energy, courier, construction aggregate, distribution, industrial equipment, and power machinery companies.  They range in sizes from start-ups and multi-generational family businesses, to national and worldwide businesses.

    Linda is sensitive to the needs of her clients' businesses, and provides timely solutions which meet and advance their business and legal objectives. Her broad client base has equipped her with the knowledge and experience needed for handling the most complex corporate and commercial matters both within Canada and as they exist across borders.

    In terms of her corporate practice, Linda supports clients and in-house counsel with general commercial and corporate governance matters. This includes assisting in developing standard form contracts, general terms and conditions and standard warranties, as well as developing corporate policies to assist the internal business review by clients of their contracts. Linda also represents clients' ongoing corporate needs such as corporate reorganizations, expansions, and refinancings. She drafts and negotiates purchase and sale agreements and related transactional documents for both asset and share sales, and manages or conducts the related legal and business due diligence.

    Linda's commercial and contract law practice is focused on furthering the interests of her clients. She is committed to providing business partners with day-to-day advice, counsel and support in all areas of law to ensure their goals are achieved with ease. This includes drafting and negotiating commercial agreements (MOUs, LOIs, RFPs, etc.) and related documents, and facilitating meetings with internal stakeholders and subject experts to obtain all relevant engineering, business and legal information needed to mitigate risk and optimize the commercial terms. Linda also negotiates commercial agreements with opposing counsel, ensuring input from her clients' supply and business leads is obtained as needed.

    Linda is a member of various legal associations and groups including the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, and the State Bar of California.

    Full Biography

    Ryan is a tax partner and Co-Chair of the firm's Tax Group.  His legal practice focuses on various areas of domestic and international taxation, including advising on mergers and acquisitions, structured investment products, financings, estate plans, employment tax issues and a broad range of corporate tax matters. Ryan also represents clients with voluntary disclosures, audits and appeals, and he has been lead counsel at every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

    Ryan regularly presents on income tax topics at conferences and other venues, and has been quoted in national publications on income tax matters. Ryan is the Tax Editor of Ontario Corporate Law & Practice and is also the co-editor and a frequent contributor to the Current Cases feature of the Canadian Tax Journal, the flagship research publication of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

    In 2016, Ryan was recognized as one of Canada's Lexpert® Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40. More recently, he was named a Corporate Lawyer to Watch in the 2017 Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada.
