Fallon Reid, Senior Manager at Deloitte

Fallon Reid is a senior manager in Valuation and dispute services at Deloitte. She works with a wide range of clients in economic damages quantification and litigation advisory. Her experience covers a broad range of industries including financial services, life sciences and public sector. With her foundation in finance and accounting, Fallon advises business owners on related issues such as contract matters and disputes.

Fallon holds a Bachelors of Administrative and Commercial Studies and a Diploma in Accounting from the University of Western Ontario. Fallon is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). She also graduated from the Diploma of Investigative and Forensic Accounting Program at the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management.

Kerry Colborne, Founder of Force 10 Capital Management Inc.

Kerry Colborne
is a seasoned business executive with international experience gained through a long career in the finance, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Specific roles include Managing Director (CEO) of New Zealand and Global Marketing Director (in both Lyon, France and Duluth, Georgia) for Merial, a leading company in the animal health sector. More recently, she provided financing to small and medium sized businesses in the Oakville and Burlington area as a Senior Manager of Loans with the Business Development Bank of Canada. Finally, she has returned to her entrepreneurial roots by working full time for her own company, Force 10 Capital Management Inc., which she established in 2007. Kerry is also Chair of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, she is an avid sailor, soccer player and art collector.

Frances Zomer, Founder of Numeric Answers

Frances Zomer is a CPA, CA and founder of Numeric Answers Limited. She is a successful entrepreneur who has extensive experience in business start-ups, business consulting, business management and management accounting. Frances has worked closely with small to mid-sized companies and not-for-profit organizations in Toronto through her previous practices with Deloitte & Touche and through Harris & Olah, Chartered Accountants. Frances co-founded Harris & Olah in 1996 where she specialized in preparing financial statements and providing corporate tax advice to small to mid-sized companies. During this period Frances led the implementation teams for the accounting systems at both Toronto General Hospital and the Osteoporosis Society of Canada. Frances has served as a financial consultant for the Osteoporosis Society of Canada and is a past member of the board of directors of VHA Home Health Care, one of Toronto's largest non-profit home care providers. Frances currently Chairs a committee for the Santa Claus Parade and is a member of both the Issuer Committee and 3rd Party Committee of the Equity Crowdfunding Alliance Canada.

Nancy Fowler, Co-Founder of The Licensing Shop, Inc.

Nancy Fowler
is co-founder of The Licensing Shop, Inc. Previously she was the President of Worldwide Consumer Products for DIC Entertainment overseeing the successful relaunch of the Strawberry Shortcake franchise and McDonald's licensing programs. Prior to that, she held the position of Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Viacom Consumer Products (Paramount Pictures Corp.) based in Los Angeles and managed their global licensing programs such as Star Trek and South Park. Previous roles include General Manager of Viacom Consumer Products Canada and executive management positions at Alliance Atlantis and Sega of Canada.

is President of Roy Foss Motors Ltd, a privately held family business established in 1962 which includes several automotive retails stores, a land holding company, and Canada's largest independently owned fleet leasing company. She is a member of the Cadillac National Advisory Board for General Motors of Canada and is the first Canadian Dealer to serve on General Motors (US) Women's Dealer Advisory Council (WDAC) representing both General Motors of Canada and Roy Foss Motors LTD. Karen was awarded Dealer of Distinction from WDAC.

Rajini Nagendran, Vice President, Commercial Banking, Bank of Montreal

Rajini is Vice President, Commercial Banking, with Bank of Montreal and manages a team of Commercial Account Managers covering the Independent Business (IB) and Small Medium Enterprise (SME) markets in downtown Toronto. Since joining BMO in 2001, Rajini has held several leadership roles, both in head office and front line functions. She joined as a Manager in the Financial Strategy group and was appointed Director, Diversified Industries with BMO's Corporate Finance Division in 2006, and as Head of Pricing for Personal Lending, Investment and Deposit products in 2009. In 2011, she took on the role of Head of Commercial Deposits and provided leadership in executing a range of strategic initiatives that generated in excess of $10 million in annualized revenue. Prior to joining BMO, Rajini held positions with Deloitte and the Clorox Company of Canada.

    Caroline is a partner with the firm and has been involved in leading business litigation and estate litigation cases. Focusing on commercial and corporate litigation and estates, trusts and capacity litigation, Caroline represents clients ranging from large corporations and institutions to small business owners and professionals. Caroline has appeared as counsel before all levels of courts in Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada. 

    Caroline has been named in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for the practice area of litigation–corporate commercial. She was selected as a Litigation Lawyer to Watch in Lexpert's 2014 US/Canada Cross-border Litigation Guide. Caroline was also named one of Canada's 2013 Lexpert® Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40.

    As the Co-Chair of the International Private Client Committee, American Bar Association - Section of International Law, National Representative (Canada) for the International Association for Young Lawyers and a member of the OBA Council and Chair of the current OBA Executive, Estates and Trusts Section, Caroline is actively involved in the legal community. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Western Law School and is a regular speaker on a variety of legal topics. 

    In 2017 Caroline was named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). The ABF is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose careers have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in their communities and legal profession.     Faren has significant expertise litigating a broad range of complex business disputes and works with clients from across the construction pyramid including owners, contractors, consultants, subcontractors and trades.. She has experience with project strategy, as well as, lien, trust, contract, procurement, professional negligence, and delay claims.

    As an advocate for practical approaches to disputes, Faren is able to identify issues in a potential dispute early and work with her clients to provide innovative solutions. She is dedicated to guiding her client through the whole construction process from contract negotiation through to litigation. It is this approach that has led to Faren successfully resolving her clients' construction related issues.

    She has acted as litigation counsel in complex construction disputes, and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, and the Federal Court.
    Faren is committed to the construction industry in Canada, and is a long-standing member, and former director of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction. She has also taught the Law and Construction Contracts course at George Brown College, School of Construction Management and Trades, and School of Architectural Studies.

    Lori heads the firm's Estates, Trusts and Charities practice. She has been named by Best Lawyers® as one of the best lawyers in Canada in her practice area, and repeatedly recognized as a Leading Practitioner in Estate & Personal Tax Planning in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory.

    Lori assists the firm's clients in managing and transferring their assets through the use of business succession plans, trusts and wills. She assists in the establishing of charities and non-profit organizations. Her practice also includes all areas of trusts, wills and estate administration, including work under the Substitute Decisions Act.

    Lori is the Ontario Editor of the Estate & Trust Reports (Carswell). Lori also authors an electronic newsletter through Carswell publications called, WeirFoulds Estates & Trusts. Lori was co-editor of the Ontario Bar Association Trusts and Estates section newsletter Deadbeat and was the editor of Without Prejudice, the Women's Law Association newsletter (1989-91). She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Lori is a Past President of the Canadian Association of Women Executives and Entrepreneurs; a former member of the Executive of the Women's Law Association of Ontario; and the former Vice-Chairperson of the Real Property Section of the Ontario Bar Association.     Lauren has a broad commercial litigation practice involving complex contractual disputes, employment law, intellectual property and privacy law, commercial and residential leasing, real estate litigation and judgment enforcement proceedings. She has appeared before all levels of Ontario courts and at tribunals.

    Lauren represents a diverse clientele, ranging from large corporations and public organizations to small businesses and individuals.

    During law school, Lauren was an executive member of Artists' Legal Advice Services and served as senior editor for the Journal of International Law and International Relations.

    Lauren volunteers with various anti-domestic violence non-profits in Toronto, including The Redwood shelter for women and children.

    Before joining WeirFoulds LLP, Lauren worked at a commercial litigation and arbitration boutique in Toronto.

    Full Biography

    Ryan is a tax partner and Co-Chair of the firm's Tax Group.  His legal practice focuses on various areas of domestic and international taxation, including advising on mergers and acquisitions, structured investment products, financings, estate plans, employment tax issues and a broad range of corporate tax matters. Ryan also represents clients with voluntary disclosures, audits and appeals, and he has been lead counsel at every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

    Ryan regularly presents on income tax topics at conferences and other venues, and has been quoted in national publications on income tax matters. Ryan is the Tax Editor of Ontario Corporate Law & Practice and is also the co-editor and a frequent contributor to the Current Cases feature of the Canadian Tax Journal, the flagship research publication of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

    In 2016, Ryan was recognized as one of Canada's Lexpert® Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40. More recently, he was named a Corporate Lawyer to Watch in the 2017 Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada.

    Anastasija's practice focuses on complex corporate and commercial disputes as well as estates, trusts and capacity litigation. She also has experience in matters involving administrative law issues and defence of class actions, and she works closely with a group of senior counsel at the firm. Anastasija enjoys working with a variety of clients, ranging from large corporations and public organizations to individuals.

    Anastasija obtained her law degree from McGill University where she was a director at the McGill Legal Information Clinic during her studies. She is interested in the developments in the law, and is a member of the statutory review committee of the OBA Trusts and Estates section.
