Business Law Today, American Bar Association Historically, class action lawsuits have not been a staple of the Canadian legal culture, but times are changing. The number of Canadian class action proceedings has grown substantially in the past 15 years as provinces recognize these actions through enabling legislation. Currently, eight of Canada's 10 provinces have class action legislation in force.
