Lisa Borsook Selected as the 2016 Recipient of the Laura Legge Award

We are pleased to announce that WeirFoulds Executive Partner Lisa Borsook is being honoured as the 2016 recipient of The Laura Legge Award. The Laura Legge Award recognizes women lawyers from Ontario who have exemplified leadership within the profession. The award was established in 2007 in honour of the late Laura Legge, O. Ont., Q.C., the first woman ever elected as a bencher of the Law Society and the first woman to serve as Treasurer.

Glenn Ackerley, partner, construction law, discussed breaking down barriers in procurement at the Breaking Down Barriers – Identifying Opportunities – Overcoming Challenges session hosted by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce on February 24, 2016. The event was covered by local newspaper Niagara This Week, in an article by Paul Forsyth entitled Stopping the hallowing out of the Niagara construction industry: Forum focuses on barriers to local firms getting municipal contracts.

Glenn Ackerley Acts as Fairness Advisor and Releases his Report on the Mega Hospital Site Selection Process in Windsor

Glenn Ackerley, partner, WeirFoulds LLP, acted as the Fairness Advisor in the process of selecting a site for a New Single-Site Acute Care Hospital in Windsor.

While a Fairness Advisor was not required for this process by the terms of the Ontario Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive, the Co-Chairs of the Program and Services Steering Committee decided that this role would add an extra layer of accountability to the process.
