OPPI 2020: Virtual Conference
Ontario’s largest annual conference for planning professionals will take place virtually over four days – September 23 & 30, October 7 & 14, 2020. OPPI20 will explore the topics of housing, demographics, planning and planners through four keynote presentations and 50+ breakout sessions.
When considering the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hard not to reflect on the unprecedented challenges it has presented for the land use planning and development process in Ontario. Disruptions in business operations and in the delivery of public services, planning delays, the shift to digital public engagement and other issues have fundamentally transformed how we work and do business, and the planning landscape is no exception.
Barnet (Barney) Kussner, Municipal, Planning & Land Development Partner at WeirFoulds LLP, will discuss some of the legal and practical implications of these challenges for the planning regime in Ontario, including the recent Planning Act amendments arising from Bill 197 and best practices relating to virtual public meetings and hearings.
The firm is also proud to participate in the event as a sponsor.
