Whistleblowing Policies & Anti-Corruption Strategies
kayWith the recent launch of the Ontario Securities Commission’s new Whistle Blowing Program, it’s time for your organization to either revise existing whistleblowing policies or implement new ones.
Focusing on companies, financial institutions, law firms, mutual funds, brokerage firms and the like, this seminar will examine the need for an effective whistleblowing policy to deal with potential breaches of specific provisions found in the Criminal Code, various provincial securities acts, and other relevant legislation.
The seminar will also highlight the potential reputational and financial risks associated with whistleblowing and demonstrate how an effective whistleblowing policy can protect your organization.
Finally, the seminar will cover ethical considerations both external and in-house counsel face when advising clients on compliance issues and/or in their work environments. It will highlight the need for lawyers to consider client confidentiality concerns when designing policies to address regulatory offences such as tipping, insider trading, etc.
