Cecile Ko Brock is an associate in the Estates, Trusts and Charities Practice Group. Her practice includes all areas of trusts, wills and estate administration, including work under the Substitute Decisions Act. Cecile also assists clients with establishing charities and non-profit organizations.
Cecile assists clients with managing and transferring their assets through the use of wills, trusts and business succession plans. She works closely with clients to create customized estate plans and powers of attorney to give effect to their intentions.
Cecile advises estate trustees, beneficiaries and other stakeholders of their duties, rights and obligations to help them navigate through the administration of estates and trusts. She manages sensitive family dynamics and works closely with clients to develop solutions and provide peace of mind throughout the estate administration process.
Cecile is familiar with a wide array of estate issues that may become litigious and has an active interest in conflict avoidance and resolution. Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Cecile gained both estate planning and litigation experience at a top regional firm where she assisted clients with various matters before the Superior Court of Justice (Estates List), including obtaining court orders to remove and replace estate trustees and orders for guardianship for property and personal care. As such, she understands that litigation can be stressful and costly for all parties involved and advises clients on how to proactively avoid these problems in their own estate and incapacity planning.
Cecile is an Affiliate with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is currently obtaining her Trust and Estate Practitioner designation. She also writes newsletters and papers on estate planning and administration topics to keep clients apprised of legal developments. She also presents to corporate and community groups.
