Claire is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group at WeirFoulds. After spending her articling and summer work terms with the firm, Claire focused her practice on corporate and securities law.
Claire provides practical solutions and actionable advice to clients ranging from private companies to mid-market public companies on a variety of matters. She has also previously been involved in advising national service providers. Her practice includes advising on regulatory matters including anti-money laundering obligations, and capital markets transactions including public offerings and private placements. Her experience assisting clients spans a broad array of industries including financial services, technology, biotech, pharmaceutical and mining.
Claire obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Queen’s University Faculty of Law. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. During law school, Claire was involved in the Queen’s Business Law Clinic, where she worked directly with small businesses and start-ups on a variety of issues including software licencing agreements, employee policies, and charitable status. Claire also participated in the Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot, winning second place factum for an issue involving risk disclosure in a company’s MD&A.
Claire is passionate about capital markets, start-ups, and connecting with clients to identify their objectives and find innovative and creative solutions to meet those objectives. In her spare time, Claire likes to get outdoors to hike new trails or sit in a park with a book. Before entering the legal field, she worked at an art gallery in Newfoundland and Labrador.
