Julia Sydorenko

Julia Sydorenko is an associate at WeirFoulds LLP with a practice focused on information technology law and general commercial matters.

Julia has experience drafting technology-based agreements, negotiating the purchase, sale, and license of technology with consumers and vendors from diverse industries, advising on privacy and security issues, assisting with resolving commercial contract disputes, as well as reviewing and advising on existing commercial contractual arrangements.

Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Julia articled in-house with a major telecommunications company and completed rotations with the litigation, labour and employment, and commercial law teams. After being called to the Ontario Bar in 2018, she returned to the commercial law team as legal counsel where she drafted and negotiated agreements with respect to maintenance, hosting, mobility, and professional services, software licensing, Smart Cities, and the Internet of Things, provided analysis of risks and liabilities of various transactions, and assisted with deal structuring and contract management.

Julia graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto with a specialty in Finance and Commerce, a Psychology Major, and an Economics Minor. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Western University’s Faculty of Law where she obtained the Global and Intercultural Engagement Honor and a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution. During law school, Julia founded and chaired In Vino Veritas, the Western Law Wine Club, summered with the technology contract management department at a major national retailer, attended the United Nations 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women as a delegate, and worked as a summer legal intern at the Rule of Law Center in Lviv, Ukraine.

Julia is passionate about all things tech, keeping up with the latest innovations, and helping her clients strategize creative solutions to meet their business objectives. In her spare time, Julia likes to stay active, travel around the globe, and try new restaurants. Julia is also an avid moviegoer, occasional beekeeper, and always trying to get her hands on tickets for any live theatre, symphony, dance or music performance.
