Kate Stephens is an associate in the Wills, Trusts and Estates Group at WeirFoulds with a practice that focuses on a diverse range of civil and commercial litigation matters, including capacity litigation.
Kate works closely with her clients to identify solutions and to provide peace of mind through effective negotiation and mediation.
Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Kate summered and articled at a boutique estate litigation firm where she appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and drafted pleadings and legal opinions, in addition to working on several marketing and legal education initiatives, including drafting blog posts, papers and presentations.
As a law student at the University of Windsor, Kate was a Caseworker for Community Legal Aid, a Peer Educator for the Bystander Initiative at Windsor Law, a Student Volunteer for Pro Bono Law Students Canada, a Student Volunteer for the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, and an active member of the Women and the Law club. During her time as an undergraduate student at Queen’s University, Kate was on the Organizing Team of the Prison Literacy Initiative and a member of the varsity field hockey team.
Kate stays apprised of developments in the profession and in estates, trusts, and charities law through her memberships in the Ontario Bar Association and The Advocates’ Society.
