Excess Soils Symposium 2023 – Environment Journal

Partner Janet Bobechko will speak at the Excess Soils Symposium 2023, which will be hosted by Environment Journal on Thursday, September 21st. The conference will offer an update on the business of excess soils and new regulations impacting construction and cleanup projects. This comprehensive conversation covers new developments, including perspectives on land use planning, building issues, environmental impacts, and disposal costs related to new regulations.

Janet will take part in a regulatory roundup panel titled "Excess Soils and ESG: What's the Connection?". The panel will begin with a cross-country checkup to provide attendees with an understanding of the common themes surrounding regulatory requirements for excess soil, the general risk mitigation strategies in contracts and due diligence tips for all parties involved. Secondly, there will be reference to recent cases to highlight the legal concerns arising from a tort and prosecution perspective. Finally, a connection will be established on how excess soil plays a role in ESG reporting and how it should be incorporated into the excess soil dynamic.
