WeirFoulds is seeking a senior municipal associate to join our thriving Municipal Practice Group, with a primary focus on planning & development law. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of municipal law experience and demonstrated experience before the Tribunal and/or the Courts
  • Strong technical, legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills
  • Demonstrated strengths in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and client development
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player
  • Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible
  • Confidence to manage files and clients independently
  • Excellent academic credentials

The successful candidate will work with our team of municipal lawyers on a variety of challenging, sophisticated and diverse matters representing a broad range of both public sector and private sector clients, including municipalities, residential, commercial and industrial development interests, construction firms, property owners, investors and private citizens. You will be assisting clients with either obtaining or responding to applications and appeals respecting development approvals, planning policy matters, legal opinions and court applications dealing with a wide variety of municipal law issues, and expropriation and taxation matters, among others.

  • At least 1–3 years of experience in all aspects of estate, trusts and capacity litigation and mediation
  • Strong technical and legal knowledge

  • Assisting on all matters concerning guardianships, will challenges and interpretations, power of attorney issues and disputes, passings of accounts, variations of trust, and dependant relief applications
