WeirFoulds is seeking a junior associate lawyer to join our thriving Commercial Leasing Practice Group.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Between 1-3 years of commercial leasing and/or real estate experience (with some experience in commercial leasing)
  • Familiarity with drafting and reviewing commercial lease documentation including offers to lease, leases, lease renewals, assignments, consents etc.
  • Familiarity with preparing lease summaries and abstracts, conducting due diligence on leasing matters and supporting lease negotiations
  • Knowledge of Canadian Leasing Law
  • Excellent drafting skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn the “why” behind drafting
  • Demonstrated strength in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and business development
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player
  • Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible
  • Strong work ethic, not afraid of hard work and commitment to excellence
  • Experience integrating AI into their commercial leasing/real estate practice

The successful candidate will work with members of our Commercial Leasing Practice Group on a variety of challenging, sophisticated and diverse matters, representing landlords, tenants, developers, property managers, lenders, franchisors and franchisees. You will be negotiating, drafting, reviewing and revising commercial leasing documents including leases, offers, amendments, assignments, subleases and consents. The candidate must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or be in the process of doing so if coming from another province.

The target salary range for this position is $130,000 – $195,000, commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications. This is a replacement role.

WeirFoulds is seeking a senior litigation associate to join our thriving Regulatory Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5-8 years of civil litigation experience, from either private practice or in house, including hearing experience and administrative / public law experience
  • Sustained interest or experience with administrative law and tribunals will be considered an asset
  • Experience working with professional regulation matters and working with regulatory bodies is preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong technical, legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills
  • Demonstrated strengths in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and client development
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player
  • Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible
  • Ability to manage document intensive files
  • Confidence to manage files and clients independently
  • Excellent academic credentials

The successful candidate will work with our experienced team of lawyers on a variety of challenging and diverse civil litigation and administrative and public law matters including professional regulation and discipline cases, judicial reviews of government and regulatory decision-making, human rights, and access to information and privacy matters. Our lawyers represent professional regulatory colleges, regulatory authorities, universities, Crown corporations, owner-managed businesses, and private foundations.
