Available Positions

Construction Lawyer, 5 to 7 years

WeirFoulds is seeking a construction lawyer to join our thriving Construction Law Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of construction law experience
  • Strong technical, legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills
  • Demonstrated strengths in entrepreneurialism including client service, client relationships and client development
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player
  • Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible
  • Ability to manage document intensive files
  • Confidence to manage files and clients independently
  • Excellent academic credentials

The successful candidate will work with our team of lawyers on a variety of challenging, sophisticated and diverse matters representing owners, consultants, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers with resolving project disputes including delay claims, responding to insolvencies and collection of monies owed. Our clients include some of the largest, most significant players in the construction industry with complex and interesting construction issues.

Infrastructure/Public Projects associate or junior partner, 4+ years

WeirFoulds is seeking an experienced infrastructure lawyer to join our thriving Infrastructure and Public Projects Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 4 years of experience in infrastructure delivery models and documentation, including structuring the project, design-build, operations and maintenance, EPC and construction contracts of various types, as well as the legal issues involved in all areas of public procurement processes.
  • Experience in ground leases and other long term leasing and property arrangements relating to these types of projects.
  • A strong background in supply contracts and other general commercial contracts.
  • Strong work ethic, technical legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills.
  • Demonstrated strengths in client service, client relationships and client development.
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player.
  • Confidence to manage files and clients independently.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Our Infrastructure and Public Projects Practice Group is involved in numerous complex and challenging projects ranging from public transportation systems, municipal sports and entertainment centres, downtown redevelopment projects, power generation facilities and university and hospital expansions. For the right individual this is a unique opportunity to become involved in exciting projects for sophisticated clients under the direction and mentorship of senior practitioners who are recognized in the practice area.

  • At least 6 years of advocacy experience, including regulatory /public law hearing experience and civil litigation experience in relation to appeals or judicial reviews at a firm with a significant focus on regulatory/ public law.
  • Strong technical legal, research and drafting skills combined with excellent organization skills.
  • Demonstrated strengths in client service, client relationships and client development.
  • Ability to work with lawyers at all levels and be a team player.
  • Able to balance competing demands as well as being self-motivated, innovative and flexible.
  • Confidence to manage files and clients independently.
  • Excellent academic credentials

The successful candidate will work with our experienced team of lawyers on a variety of challenging and diverse matters ranging from professional self-regulation and discipline cases, judicial review of government decision-making, alcohol and gaming, and access to information and privacy.  Our lawyers represent professional regulatory colleges, regulatory authorities, universities, public companies, owner-managed businesses, and private foundations.
