Partner Janet Bobechko will join members of the CBA Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section, as well as counterparts at the Department of Justice, for a dynamic exchange about key environment and energy topics on Thursday, November 30th, 2023.

The CBA NEERLS & Department of Justice Meeting will include presentations on Indigenous involvement and other considerations for project development as well as the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at the federal level. The recent amendments to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 will also be discussed. In addition, participants will hear about recent developments in the United States from the upcoming chair of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.

Janet will serve as a moderator during a panel discussion titled "Indigenous Involvement in Energy and Resources Development Projects", which will feature discussions on the involvement of Indigenous Peoples. This includes discussions on business structures and relationships development including impact benefit agreements. This panel will also include discussion on the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
