35th Annual Black Law Students’ Association of Canada National Conference

The Black Law Students’ Association of Canada (BLSA) National Conference will take place in Montréal from February 12 to 15, 2026.

WeirFoulds Partner Olalekan (Wole) Akinremi will participate as a speaker on the panel “The Future of Legal Practice: AI, Technology, and Innovation,” which will take place on February 13.

The panel will explore how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are rapidly transforming the legal profession, from the way lawyers research, draft, and manage cases to how firms and organizations deliver legal services. Panelists will examine opportunities for innovation alongside key challenges, including ethical considerations, bias, data privacy, and access to justice. The discussion will also focus on how students can prepare for an increasingly tech‑driven legal landscape, the skills that will be most in demand, and how Black legal professionals can position themselves at the forefront of technological change within the profession.
