It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our friend and esteemed colleague, the Honourable Allan McNiece (Mac) Austin, on January 12, 2018.
Mac, also affectionately known as “Bunny”, was a student, associate, partner and managing partner with WeirFoulds LLP, starting his legal career at the firm in 1952.
Appointed to the High Court (now the Superior Court) in December 1986, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario in May 1992, Mac served on the bench for 17 years until his retirement in 2003. Following his retirement from the bench, we were fortunate to have Mac rejoin us at WeirFoulds where he conducted an arbitration and mediation practice for several years.
Mac was a trusted mentor, a consummate professional, and a wonderful person.
