WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Partner Raj Anand has been appointed as a member of the inaugural Discipline Committee of the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (CPATA).
Raj is a senior litigator with a practice in the areas of human rights, constitutional and administrative law, labour relations, civil litigation, professional negligence and discipline. He is a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and was an elected bencher of the Law Society of Ontario from 2007 to 2019. Raj has held an extensive list of professional titles throughout his career and received a wide array of awards. He presently hears cases at the Law Society Tribunal and the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal.
The CPATA is the independent public interest regulator of Patent and Trademark agents in Canada. The Discipline Committee supports the College’s public protection mandate by hearing complaints (applications) of professional misconduct and/or incompetence referred to it by the Investigations Committee.
