Shadé Edwards is an Associate in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group at WeirFoulds LLP.

Before joining the firm as a lawyer, Shadé developed her legal skills with WeirFoulds as both an Articling Student and a Summer Student. Prior to this, she worked as a legal intern at the Department of Justice of Canada: Public Law and Legislative Service Sector, and as a Student Border Services Officer with the Canada Border Services Agency. While in Law School, Shadé acted as a legal research assistant for several professors. Her areas of focus included Transgender Rights, Tax Law, crime and punishment, and feminist perspectives on the Law.

Shadé also acted as a Communication Specialist for the Shirley Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession. In this role, Shadé aided the Greenberg Chairholder in the organization of speaker series pertaining to feminist legal issues. Noteworthy projects include the organization of a speaking engagement featuring a prominent American civil rights activist, and a virtual teach-in headlined by a National best selling author and journalist in Canada.

Shadé received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, where she was the Co-President of the Black Law Students’ Association, a First-Year Nelligan Moot Participant, an equity peer mentor, a research assistant, and a member of the AÉCLSS Joint Equity and Advocacy Committee.

Prior to entering law, Shadé obtained her Honours Bachelors of Arts from the University of Toronto with High Distinction. She double Majored in Criminology and Canadian Studies and minored in Sociology.
