WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Max Shafir, QC and Sandra Astolfo have joined the firm in the Construction Practice Group.
Max and Sandra are each highly experienced lawyers who practice exclusively in construction law. Their deep understanding of construction law means they are always in tune with the needs of their clients, including major construction suppliers, lending institutions, owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors. They specialize and have had success, in breach of trust claims, product liability proceedings in relation to construction projects, receiverships and lien trustees and negotiating and drafting construction contracts, the Construction Lien Act and bankruptcy matters.

Sandra is also certified by The Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Construction Law. She is currently ranked in both Best Lawyers® in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as one of Canada’s leading construction lawyers.
Through her active involvement in a number of professional organizations, Sandra dedicates her time to clients and the community and is continually advocating for the legal profession. She is the past co-chair of the Construction Law Practice Group Executive for The Advocates’ Society, as well as a past member of the Ontario Bar Association Construction & Infrastructure Law Section Executive.
Max is a Fellow of The Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, a member of The Advocates’ Society, The Lawyers Club, The Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association and the Ontario Bar Association Construction & Infrastructure Law Section. He also regularly presents at client and professional events and has authored several papers on construction issues and litigation.
Max was called to the Ontario Bar in 1967, having completed his LL.B. at Osgoode Law School in 1965.
Sandra was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995, having completed her LL.B. at Queen’s University in 1993.
