WeirFoulds congratulates client Jennifer Suess on being recognized by the 2025 Canadian Women in Real Estate Awards

WeirFoulds congratulates client Jennifer Suess, O. Ont., the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, ESG and Corporate Secretary of RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, who has been recognized by the 2025 Canadian Women in Real Estate (CWIRE) Awards, hosted by Connect Canada CRE. Jennifer is honoured as a National recipient in recognition for her commitment to the community, leadership and impressive ability to see through complex projects. WeirFoulds is proud to have supported Jennifer’s nomination for this prestigious accolade.

The CWIRE Awards recognize Canadian women whose aptitude, commitment, and innovative ideas have enabled them to thrive and gain prominence in the commercial real estate industry, spotlighting women across a wide range of sectors and roles, including brokers, lawyers and C-suite executives.

Through her efforts as Senior Vice President, Head of ESG, Corporate Secretary and the first ever General Counsel at RioCan REIT, one of Canada’s largest Real Estate Investment Trusts with a valuation of $6 billion and 500 employees across Canada, Jennifer has been responsible for creating a true cultural shift to a focus on sustainability and the environment in the real estate and development field.

Jennifer’s further work with the Hospital for SickKids as a member of the Nominating & Governance, Development and Compensation & Resource Management Committees has made a significant difference in the lives of the children the hospital provides care to. This has resulted in the construction of a new hospital building in Toronto, and the implementation of strategies that have expanded access to critical medical care and mental health services to children of a diverse range of backgrounds, as well as ensuring that the proper support systems are in place for Indigenous children and families to receive care ranging from traditional healing practices to social services support.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has embodied the highest levels of professional and personal standards while also making a dedicated effort to leave any organization better than she found it, taking charge as a people-focused leader, whose strategies yield significant, impactful and quantifiable results. Her career is a testament to her ability to drive meaningful change, whether through cultural transformation, inclusive leadership, or strategic crisis management.

Join us in congratulating Jennifer on this recognition, and in celebrating her commitment to excellence and innovation within the commercial real estate industry.
