WeirFoulds Congratulates Raj Anand for Receiving the 2018 OBA Award for Distinguished Service

WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Raj Anand, Senior Partner and Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada, will be the recipient (along with Justice Michael Tulloch) of the 2018 OBA Award for Distinguished Service. The OBA’s announcement reads:

“Raj Anand has served both the profession and the public in a myriad of ways. As a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, he has led important initiatives such as the Law Society’s Working Group on Challenges faced by Racialized Lawyers and Paralegals. He has chaired Pro Bono Ontario, made pro bono contributions in several public interest cases, served as Human Rights Commissioner, and has been a teacher, leader, and friend to many individuals and organizations within the legal community and beyond. Raj is a partner, arbitrator, mediator and investigator with WeirFoulds LLP and remains wholly committed to the profession, to equality rights, and to advocacy throughout his work and volunteer efforts.”
The award will be presented to Raj during the 2018 OBA Annual Awards Gala on April 25, 2018.

This award adds to an array of recognitions that Raj has received throughout his career, including recently receiving the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from The Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL), and being named one of Canadian Lawyer’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers for 2017.
