WeirFoulds establishes Barnet H. Kussner Memorial Award with the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto

WeirFoulds is honoured to announce that in the memory of our Partner, colleague and dear friend, Barnet Kussner (“Barney”), we have established the Barnet H. Kussner Memorial Award at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

The bursary will be awarded to a fulltime student at the University’s Faculty of Law with a focus on municipal and planning law. The University of Toronto is committed to honouring Barney’s legacy and will match, through its Boundless Promise Matching, income generated by the gift in perpetuity.

Barney completed his L.L.B. (1989) at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, before joining WeirFoulds as an articling student later in that same year. Following his Call to the Ontario Bar in 1991, he quickly became a leading member of WeirFoulds’ Municipal Law Group and was regarded as one of the top municipal lawyers in Canada. Barney practiced law at WeirFoulds for 32 years and was admired by colleagues and friends across the municipal, legal and land use planning fields.

WeirFoulds is proud to continue Barney’s legacy through this Award at his alma mater.
