WeirFoulds partner Megan Mah recognized as a 2023 Lexpert Rising Star

WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Megan Mah, Partner in the Human Rights Practice Group and Employment & Labour Practice Group, has been named a 2023 Lexpert Rising Star. The award honours leading lawyers under 40 in Canada from law firms, in-house departments, and other practices. The winners were announced on November 23rd during the Lexpert Rising Stars Awards Gala at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.

Nominations for young lawyers who have made outstanding contributions in their careers are received from all across Canada, with shortlisted submissions ultimately reviewed by an advisory panel comprised of esteemed leaders and experts within the legal profession. The panel assesses and votes for the winners according to the relevant criteria.

Megan started at WeirFoulds as a Summer Student in 2014 and an Articling Student in 2015, before joining full-time as an Associate in 2016 and becoming a Partner in 2022. In that time, she has built a diverse practice that focuses on human rights, employment, administrative, regulatory and constitutional law. Megan represents universities, professional regulators, public institutions, public and private companies, not-for-profit organizations, and private individuals, and regularly advises on a range of issues including discrimination and accommodation, sexual harassment and violence, and wrongful and constructive dismissals.

Megan is heavily involved in the broader legal community, having served as an active member of the Ontario Bar Association, including as the Chair of the OBA’s Civil Liberties and Human Rights Law Section Executive. Megan is also the current Chair of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers’ Advocacy and Policy Committee, the Vice-Chair of the Roundtable of Legal Diversity Associations, and has volunteered with Pro Bono Ontario’s Legal Advice Hotline.

“This award reaffirms what all of us at WeirFoulds already know: that Megan is an exceptional lawyer, whose dedication to excellence and unwavering commitment to her clients is exemplary,” said Wayne Egan, Co-Managing Partner at WeirFoulds. “We congratulate Megan on this well-deserved honour, and look forward to her continued success in the future.”
