WeirFoulds LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Raj Anand has been re-elected to a second term as a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Ontario lawyers elect 40 benchers in elections that are held every four years. The Law Society of Upper Canada is governed by these benchers, who determine policies and other matters related to the governance of Ontario’s lawyers and paralegals, including adjudicating discipline cases concerning lawyer and paralegal conduct, licensing, competence and capacity.
Raj is a senior civil litigation, administrative and human rights lawyer. He is a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and more recently, was appointed by the Ontario government to set up the Human Rights Legal Support Centre as part of the Human Rights Code reforms. Raj was also the first recipient of the Advocates’ Society Award of Justice.
We congratulate Raj on this honour and for his continuing contributions to excellence within the legal community.
