WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Partner, Raj Anand will be recognized as a high achiever in Canada’s South Asian community at this year’s Grant’s Desi Achievers Awards Gala on Saturday, October 13, 2018.
A Desi Achiever is a South Asian Canadian who has found success in his or her chosen field and made a positive impact on the community in Canada. Grant’s Desi Achievers are viewed as role models and inspiration for others. Desi News is Canada’s premier English-language magazine for the South Asian community. It has showcased Indo-Canadian high achievers since 2005.
Raj practices in the areas of human rights, constitutional and administrative law, labour relations, civil litigation, professional negligence and discipline. He is a bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and acted as a Board of Inquiry under the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Police Services Act, as Co-Chair of the University of Toronto Tribunal and as counsel to a number of administrative tribunals. In 2012, he was appointed as Chair of the Law Society’s Working Group on systemic racism in the legal and paralegal professions and presented its final report in December 2016.
Raj has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading lawyer in Administrative and Public Law and Labour and Employment Law, and by Lexpert Guide to US/Canada Cross-Border Lawyers in Canada. In 2017, Raj was included as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada by Canadian Lawyer.
