21st Annual Crown Corporate Governance Annual Conference

Partner James Kosa, Co-Chair of the firm’s Technology & Intellectual Property Practice Group, will be a featured speaker at the 21st Annual Conference on Crown Corporate Governance. This two-day event takes place January 28–29, 2026, in Ottawa.

On Day 2, James will speak during the session, “The AI Integration Roadmap for Crown Corporations: Balancing Innovation with Caution.”

The session will explore practical strategies for governance and board oversight as Crown corporations consider adopting AI tools. Key discussion points include:

  • Examining when and how Crowns can safely implement AI systems into their daily functions
  • Analyzing the AI systems that are currently being utilized by federal, provincial or territorial Crowns or ABCs
  • Assessing and mitigating the data and privacy risks involved with AI systems
  • Navigating the intersection of copyright law and AI
  • Distilling lessons from recent case law on challenging decisions made with AI
