WeirFoulds Partner Lisa Danay Wallace was recently interviewed by the Toronto Star in relation to the federal privacy commissioner’s investigation into a data breach involving Crime Stoppers that may have led to personal information of thousands of tipsters being leaked.
Lisa highlighted the very real risk, both legal and physical, that the breach posed — including raising that the breach not only threatened the privacy of tipsters, but also threatened the privacy of those being accused, who may later turn out to be innocent.
