Jeff Scorgie is a Partner in the Construction Practice Group at WeirFoulds. His practice focuses on drafting and negotiating contracts and advising on other “front end” aspects of construction projects.
Jeff assists his clients in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts and providing advice throughout the course of a project as disputes or issues arise. Jeff has experience reviewing, negotiating and drafting all manner of construction contracts including design-build, construction management, EPC, development, consulting and supply agreements. Jeff has significant experience working with bespoke and industry standard form contracts (including CCDC, OPSS, CCA, ACEC, MEA/ACEC, RAIC and OAA contracts). Jeff also routinely provides strategic advice on procurement, tendering and project structuring. His clients include public and private owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and project managers.
Jeff gives back to the construction industry by providing his knowledge and insight at conferences, webinars and other educational opportunities. Jeff co-chairs the popular webinar series “Tools for Success”, which is focused on practical insights and tips for those in the construction industry. He previously served as an instructor of the “Law and Construction Contracts” course at the School of Construction Management and Trades / School of Architectural Studies at George Brown College.
Before joining WeirFoulds, Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts (specializing in Political Science) from the University of Toronto in 2011. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in 2014.
