Prompting Tomorrow: Lisa Danay Wallace to Moderate Panel at CAN-TECH Fall Conference

The Canadian Technology Law Association’s (CAN-TECH) Fall Conference opens this Thursday, offering attendees not only the chance to learn more about the most recent and significant developments in Canadian and international technology law but also to see WeirFoulds Partner Lisa Danay Wallace in action – both as an attendee and as moderator of one of its central panel discussions.

CAN-TECH is familiar ground for Lisa; she was named President last year after years of strong leadership not just within the organization, but in Canada’s broader technology law landscape.

At the time, we noted Lisa’s reputation as a trusted advisor, her ability to align business needs with legal requirements, and her ability to stay on top of changes in a technology environment that never stops evolving.

In the 11 months since, she hasn’t stopped. CAN-TECH’s Spring Conference this year recorded its highest attendance to date and the International Women’s Day program that Lisa started as Chair of CAN-TECH’s Women in Technology Committee continues to provide a forum for women in senior positions to share their experience and advice with an upcoming generation of practitioners.

In addition, Lisa’s efforts to connect with the younger generation of lawyers (including establishing a new committee and organizing multiple engagement events) has driven membership increases at CAN-TECH and put more young lawyers on their career paths in technology law.

The same forward-looking approach has defined her contributions to the profession. In addition to serving as CAN-TECH President, Wallace previously chaired the Ontario Bar Association’s IT/IP Section and is a frequent speaker on emerging issues involving AI, privacy, cybersecurity and digital commerce, having presented at CAN-TECH itself on issues from Breaking into Tech Law to The Tech Lawyer Experience to Canadian Tech Lawyers in a Shifting Global Landscape.

This Fall Conference, Lisa will be moderating the Contracting in 2026: New Rules, Tools, and Risks panel, which will examine how legal teams are responding to rapid changes in technology and regulation. Topics include AI-assisted contract drafting, emerging cross-border requirements, and the growing need to address AI governance within commercial agreements.
