WeirFoulds LLP congratulates Partner Glenn Ackerley, Chair of the Firm’s Construction Practice Group, on receiving the prestigious 2025 Canadian Bar Association Award of Excellence in Construction & Infrastructure. Presented on Friday, October 24, 2025, Glenn was formally honoured during the Dinner and Award of Excellence Presentation, held as part of the CBA Construction and Infrastructure Law Conference.
This award highlights Glenn’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession throughout a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, and his remarkable expertise in the field of construction law, construction contracts and construction litigation.
Glenn is widely regarded as one of Canada’s top construction lawyers, with his professional excellence in construction law regularly recognized by respected legal directories, including Chambers Canada Guide, Best Lawyers in Canada, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Lexpert’s Leading 500 Cross-Border Lawyers, and Lexology Index: Canada. In addition to this most recent accolade from the Canadian Bar Association, Glenn has previously received many industry accolades including the Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA) Construction Hard Hat Award, in recognition of outstanding contributions to improving the province’s construction industry.
Beyond his role at WeirFoulds, Glenn is deeply involved in the broader legal and construction professional communities. He sits on one of the National Advisory Councils of the Canadian Construction Association, a Past Chairman of the Board of the Toronto Construction Association, and developed and taught the Construction Law course at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Department of Architectural Science for many years. Glenn was a notable member of the Expert Panel’s Advisory Group on changes to Ontario’s Construction Lien Act, which led to significant amendments being made to the Construction Act. He is also the Immediate Past President of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers (CCCL).
“Glenn’s career serves as a benchmark for excellence in Canadian construction and infrastructure law,” said Co-Managing Partners Denise Baker and Wayne Egan in a joint statement. “His leadership, commitment to innovation, and mentorship have left an indelible mark on both our firm and the wider legal community. This recognition is a testament to the lasting impact of his contributions, and we are proud to celebrate his remarkable achievement.”
