Ranked by Chambers Canada for White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations and by Chambers Global for Asset Tracing & Recovery, Maureen is recognized as one of Canada’s foremost asset recovery lawyers. She was also named in the Lexology Index: Asset Recovery (2025) and as a Future Star by Benchmark Litigation: Canada.
Maureen’s practice focuses on high-stakes, multi-jurisdictional disputes involving commercial fraud, cryptocurrency, enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, and regulatory investigations. She has acted as lead counsel in some of the most significant cases in Canada, including proceedings involving a multibillion dollar cryptocurrency platform insolvency and on the investigation and civil trial in relation to a worldwide multibillion dollar Ponzi scheme.
Beyond her litigation work, Maureen is a thought leader in international asset recovery. She serves as Vice-Chair of the International Bar Association Asset Recovery Committee, is a founding member of the North American Chapter of CFAAR (Cryptocurrency Fraud and Asset Recovery Network) and sits on the steering committee of the International Fraud Group. She frequently speaks at major international conferences and has co-authored the legal chapter of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada Certification Manual.
