Multiple WeirFoulds lawyers to serve on OBA Law Section executives for 2020-2021 term

WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that a number of our lawyers have been selected to serve on the Ontario Bar Association’s Law Sections and Law Section executives for the 2020-2021 year.

Faren Bogach, Partner, has been re-elected to the Construction and Infrastructure Law Section. Faren is an experienced litigator with a practice that is focused on construction and infrastructure. She has significant expertise helping clients from across the construction pyramid navigate through a broad range of complex disputes.

Philip Cho, Partner, has been re-elected to the Insolvency Law Section. Philip’s practice is focused primarily in the area of insolvency and bankruptcy, with a complimentary practice in security enforcement and litigation.

Jeff Cowan, Partner, has been re-elected to the Administrative Law Section. Jeff acts as counsel before administrative tribunals and the trial and appellate courts in many aspects of public law.

Lisa Danay Wallace, Associate, will serve as Past-Chair of the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law Section. As a technology and intellectual property lawyer, Lisa has key experience in a diverse range of sectors and has a particular interest in new and emerging technologies.

Raj Kehar, Partner, has been elected a Member-at-Large of the Municipal Law Section. Raj’s practice involves all aspects of land use planning and development law. He represents both public and private sector clients.

Bianca La Neve, Partner, has been re-elected to the Trusts and Estates Law Section. Bianca is an experienced litigator with a practice that is focused on handling complex and sensitive matters in relation to all aspects of estate, trusts and capacity litigation.

Megan Mah, Associate, has been re-elected to the Labour and Employment Law Section and to the Constitutional, Civil Liberties and Human Rights Law Section. Megan works on a range of issues including workplace discrimination and accommodation, sexual harassment and violence, wrongful and constructive dismissals, human rights complaints, breach of contract, and professional discipline.

Hayley Peglar, Associate, has been re-elected to the Elder Law Section. Hayley practices civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on estate, trusts and capacity litigation. Hayley also advises clients on non-contentious court proceedings, including variation of trust matters and uncontested passings of accounts.

Julia Sydorenko, Associate, has been elected a Member-at-Large of the Entertainment, Media and Communications Law Section. She will also serve as the Technology Liaison for the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law Section. Julia’s practice is focused on information technology law as well as general commercial matters.

Wendes Keung, Articling Student, will support the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law Section as Newsletter Editor. Prior to articling with the firm, Wendes completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Toronto. She will return to WeirFoulds as an Associate in January 2021.

As members of the OBA Sections and its executives, our lawyers will participate in the general business of the sections and execute on specific projects as assigned by the Chair, which may include advocacy initiatives, developing innovative and exciting programming, hosting special events, producing informative practice-specific articles and papers and more.
